DOES YOUR DOG RESCUE APPLICATION STAND OUT FROM THE REST?

How to make your Application Stand Out When Applying to a Dog Rescue

Adopting a dog is an exciting endeavour! You have the chance to give a pup the loving home they deserve. But with so many applicants for every rescue, you’ll want your application to stand out from the crowd. Here are some tips on how to make sure that happens.

Do Your Research

Before submitting an application, do your research on the rescue organization and its mission. Most rescues will have information about their organization readily available on their website or social media accounts. Knowing what values, they prioritize and what they look for in potential adopters can help you know how best to present yourself and your family when submitting an adoption form. By showing that you’re familiar with their mission and passionate about it, you’ll be more likely to make a great first impression!

Be Honest – and Thorough!

When filling out your application, always be honest. Don’t try to embellish or make up information; rescues will be able to tell if something isn’t true or if something is missing from your application. Not only that but being honest helps the rescue determine whether or not you are the right fit for their pup—so don’t leave out any important details! Give as much information as possible when answering questions, as this will give them a better understanding of who you are as an applicant (and potential fur parent!).

Demonstrate Responsibility

Rescue organizations want nothing more than for their pups to go home with responsible families; after all, that’s why they exist in the first place! Showing that you are prepared and responsible can help expedite the adoption process; think of it like a job interview – first impressions matter! Make sure your references know that someone from the rescue may be contacting them for additional information about you and your family; having positive references can go a long way towards making sure your application is accepted quickly and easily.

Adopting a pup from a rescue organization can be incredibly rewarding—but it requires preparation and care! Doing research on the rescue before submitting an application is essential; knowing what values they prioritize will help you show them why you would make an excellent fur-parent. Additionally, being honest when filling out any forms will ensure that both parties get exactly what they need out of this transaction—a happy home for every pup! By demonstrating responsibility and providing thorough answers, rescues can rest assured knowing that their pup has found its new forever home with responsible owners. Following these steps should help ensure that your application stands out among other applicants – good luck with adopting your perfect pup!

Here is an Extra Tip

Having been in Dog Rescue for over 40 years sometimes we can be overwhelmed with applications.

My role is to make sure the dog I am rehoming goes to the best home for the dog. So your home and family might be a great home but may not be the right fit for the dog on offer at the time.

So read up about the dog that is being rehomed and cover the points on why you would be best suited. So often I receive applications with just Yes No answers. This does not help us to help you. Answer the questions with more information about you, your family and your life as a family.

More is more for us.
